Donna June Trout

Donna June Seymour Trout passed away on February 23, 2021, at her son’s home in Bear, DE. She was 85 years old. She was born on August 4, 1935, in Easton, MD, daughter of the late William S. Seymour, Sr., and Dorothy Louise Barnes Seymour. Donna June married Mahlon H. Trout, Jr. on December 17, 1955, at the Grace United Methodist Church in Salisbury where they made their home and raised their family. Donna June graduated from St. Michaels High School in 1953 and received a Bachelor's of Science degree from Salisbury State Teachers College in 1967. She continued to take post graduate courses throughout her teaching career. She last worked as a kindergarten Teacher at Fruitland Primary School where she taught for 29 and a half years. While she was employed, she was a member of the Education Association, Maryland State Teachers Association, and Wicomico Education Association. Donna June was selected as the Wicomico County Outstanding Primary Teacher of the Year. She was a member of the Tau Chapter of the Alpha Delta Kappa International Sorority for Women Educators. Following retirement, she was a member of the Wicomico Retired Teachers Association and the Maryland Retired Teachers Association. Donna June was member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Salisbury. She is survived by her daughter Deborah Lynn and her husband John R. Merceron of Easton and her son Arthur Trout and his wife Karen of Bear, DE; grandchildren, Jaime Riley, Jim Riley (Katherine), Art Trout, Andrew Trout, Hannah Hibbard (Caleb), Rebekah Trout, Leah Hollinshead (Martin) and Mahlon Trout; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Wyatt Eaton, Jimmy, Clementine, and Shepherd Riley, Eillie Hibbard, and Jonah, Judah, and Julia Hollinshead; brothers, Albert F. Seymour and wife Anne of Bel Air, MD;and sister-in-law, Gretchen Seymour of Trappe, MD. In addition to her parents, and brothers, Rumsey Seymour and William S. Seymour and his wife Phyllis, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mahlon Harker Trout, Jr., who passed away in August of 2020. A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at the Spring Hill Memory Garden in Hebron. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her honor to Grace United Methodist Church, 635 East Church St., Salisbury, Maryland, 21801 and Heritage Foundation of PRMC, 100 E. Carroll St., Salisbury, MD 21801.
