Donald Joseph Zoller

Donald Joseph Zoller, manager of the J.C. Penney Store in Easton, MD, died at his home in Easton on Friday, August 27, 2004. He was 50. Born in Rapid City, S.D., February 16, 1954, he was the son of Paul L. and Mary Catherine Weber Zoller of McAlester, OK. After graduating from Rapid City Central High School in 1972 and the University of South Dakota in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science in Social Work, he worked in retail sales. In 1978, he began his career with J. C. Penney Company, working as a Dept. Manager in Rapid City, then trained as a store manager in Hibbing, MN. He then was a store manager in Wadena, MN, Pendleton, OR, Winfield and Pratt, KS and Easton, MD. A resident of Easton, MD since June of 2001, he was a member of the Talbot Bible Church and its choir. A dedicated conservative, he enjoyed all sports, especially basketball. A Civil War re-enactor, he was a member of the 20th Maine in the Northwest Civil War Council. While living in South Dakota, he was Chairman of Christian Action, a pro-life organization. In Pendleton, OR, he was instrumental in starting Friday Night Alive, a weekly summer community festival, which is still being held. He has won six Chairman’s Awards with the J.C. Penney Co. and was the first ever in the company to win for two stores in one year while in Kansas. Mr. Zoller is survived by his wife, the former Cyann Cox, whom he married October 9, 1976; a daughter. Katherine Ann Standish and her husband, Joseph of Rapid City, SD; two sons, Joseph William Zoller, a student at St. John’s College in Annapolis, MD and Christopher John Zoller, a senior at Easton High School in Easton, MD; three sisters, Renee Ducheneaux and Krista Zoller of McAlester, OK and Zita Catherine of Puyallup, WA; a brother, Ed Zoller of Graham, WA, and his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Webster of McAlester, OK. He was predeceased by a sister, Bernadette Zoller and a brother, Larry Zoller. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at 11:00 AM at the Talbot Bible Church, Chapel Road, Easton, MD. Burial will be at Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, MD. Friends may call at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., Easton, MD on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
