David Louis Crutchley Sr.

David Louis Crutchley, Sr. of Norfolk, VA passed away Thursday, October 11, 2007 at Hampton Veterans Hospital in Hampton, Virginia. He was 59 years old. Mr. Crutchley was born in Annapolis, MD on March 24, 1948 to Bertha Ann Kellebenz and the late, Louis Vincent Crutchley. After attending Annapolis High School he entered the service in 1968 and was stationed in Great Lakes, Illinois at the Reserves Center. David served in Viet Nam on the USS Newport News as a boiler technician from 1968 to 1972. On June 22, 1974 he married Sandra Lanham of Annapolis, MD and then moved to the Eastern Shore in 1979. For over 25 years David worked as an auto body repair man working for Annapolis Auto Body Shop and Chesapeake Auto Body of Annapolis, MD. After working in Annapolis he worked 9 years for Casey Jones Enterprises as a Plummer. In 2001 David moved to North Carolina to start his retirement and in 2006, moved to Norfolk Virginia. David’s hobbies included collecting antique tractors and electric model trains. Every year David would make a Christmas garden with his children and he was an avid drawer writing characters on their school books. In addition to his wife Sandra of 33 years, Mr. Crutchley is survived by a daughter, Penny Crutchley of Chester, MD; two sons, David Crutchley and his wife, Kelly of Norfolk, VA, and Eddie Crutchley of Chester MD; his mother, Bertha Ann Crutchley of Annapolis, MD; four sisters, Mary Linda Meceli of Annapolis, MD, Lois Ann Haley of Annapolis, MD, Debbie Rafter of Ridgley MD, and Susan Crutchley of Annapolis MD; two brothers, Michael Crutchley of Annapolis and John Crutchley of Queenstown, MD; and seven grand children. He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Crutchley of Annapolis, MD. The family will receive family and friends at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P. A., 106 Shamrock Road, Chester, MD 21619 on Monday, October 15, 2007 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.
