David G. Hensinger

David Gerhardt Hensinger of Oxford, MD died suddenly, of an apparent heart attack, on Sunday, September 19, 2005 while racing his sailboat, C’est la vie, during the Hammond Memorial Race. Born March 1, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the only child of the late Herbert Lewis and Isabel Weiser Hensinger. Following graduation from high school, he served in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1959. After completing studies in electrical engineering at Temple University, he began his career in quality control and assurance, first in Pennsylvania and later in Cambridge, MD at Airpax Electronics, where he retired as QA Manager in 1992. On August 4, 1963 he married the former Mary Ann Goyne at Washington Memorial Chapel, Valley Forge, PA. Since 1965 they have made their home in Oxford. Mr. Hensinger served as Scoutmaster for the Oxford Boy Scout Troop, was a past President of the Oxford Lions Club, and served on the Oxford Planning Commission. A communicant of the Church of The Holy Trinity, he was a former junior warden of the vestry and was assistant treasurer at the time of his death. In addition to travel, he enjoyed sailboat racing with the Oxford Sailing Association, then with the Tred Avon Yacht Club and the Oxford Amateur Racing Series (O.A.R.S.). He was an avid fisherman and especially enjoyed introducing young people to fishing. Mr. Hensinger is predeceased by his son, David G. Hensinger, Jr., who died July 5, 1990. In addition to his wife, Mr. Hensinger is survived by his father-in-law, Richard Goyne; two cousins, William Hensinger and his wife Patricia and James Hensinger and his wife Mavis; sister-in-law Jane Trinite and her husband Charles; brother-in-law Richard Goyne and his wife Marla; nephews, Richard Goyne and his wife LeeAnna, and Jeffrey Goyne; nieces Jane Trinite, Rachel Trinite and Laurie Goyne; great-nephews, Richard and Nathaniel Goyne; and his special friends, David Largey, Jr. and Judd Vreeland. He also leaves a host of friends, including those in Cornwall, England. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2005 at 1:00 PM at the Church of The Holy Trinity, Oxford, MD. Burial will be at Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, MD at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in his memory to White Cross Mission, PO Box 216, Oxford, MD 21654. Arrangements are by Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P. A., Easton, MD.
