Dannarae Hope Dixon

Dannarae Hope “Dani” Dixon of Marydel, MD, gracefully departed this world on Thursday, January 26, 2017. She was 34. How a heart so pure could be so weak will remain a mystery. Dani Dixon was born Sept. 6, 1982, in Chestertown, the daughter of Jesse and Vicky Dixon of Crumpton. She graduated from Queen Anne’s County High School in 2000. Dani was a valued employee of Outpost 544 in Crumpton from 1998-2000. She attended the University of Illinois for almost four years where she studied computer engineering and was head of the student-run computer maintenance department. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. She loved to travel, near or far, dining out, going to camp, watching movies, drawing, doing jigsaw puzzles, and playing games on her iPad. For years, she gleefully attended Caroline Center on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Dani was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Betty “Mumsy” Dixon; her maternal grandmother, Laola Brown; her cousin, Ricky Gustafson; and “Grandpa” and “Grandma” Romie and Lois Scarbro. She is survived by her Uncle and Aunt, Lee and Lollie Dixon of Marydel; her cousin and buddy Norman Lee Dixon III, also of Marydel; grandfather and grandmother Norman and Lynn, “Pop Pop and Gran.” Dixon of Goldsboro MD; her sister and family, Brea, Jose, Sandra, Jasmine and Joshua Garcia of Frederick MD, and Sarah and Dave Drzewiecki of Pasadena MD; cousin, Darla Lunnen and great-aunt Jo Casey of Frederick MD; Jamie Hollett Grau, her “BFF” of Jensen Beach FL; godparents, Greg and Trudy Clark of Sudlersville; her aunt Lesa and uncle Rick Gustafson of Crumpton; cousins Norman and Michael Gustafson; and her extended family at Caroline Center in Ridgely, MD. She is also survived by her estranged parents, Jesse and Vicky Dixon of The Villages, FL, and her estranged brother, Dylan Dixon of Crumpton. A visitation will be held Saturday, Feb 4, 2017 from 10 – 11am at Fellows Family Funeral Home, 370 Cypress St., Millington MD. Services will be held at 11am at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Crumpton Cemetery in Crumpton MD, after the service.
