Claude J. "Mo" Morales

Claude J. “Mo” Morales, Sr., of Millington, MD, died Saturday March 3, 2012, in the University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore, MD. He was 73. Mr. Morales was born in Napoleonville, LA, the son of the late Clifton and Emma LeBlanc Morales. Mo was a United States Air Force Veteran and his service to his country enabled him to find his wife of 52 years, Edie Morales. Mo retired from General Motors Corp. in 1993 as an assemblyman and trainer. He enjoyed painting for friends and neighbors for many years in and around the town of Millington. He also enjoyed working for the town as the town’s maintenance man and gardening for Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wick. Mo was a very active member of the Millington Lions Club and was a huge supporter of youth projects. He coached Little League baseball for 12 years and was the Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 146 for eight years, enjoying many trips to the woods and mountains. Mo loved his Los Angeles Dodgers and his Green Bay Packers. Mo enjoyed gardening, the beach, and skiing with family and friends. He loved to volunteer and give back to his community. His greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren who were the world to him. In addition to his wife, Edie, Mo is survived by his son, C.J. Morales, Jr., and his wife Joyce of Millington, MD; his daughter, Dina Downey and her husband Jesse also of Millington, MD; three sisters, Phyllis Blanchard (Harold) of New Orleans, LA, Vera Simeneaux (Rodney) also of New Orleans, LA, and Diane Ware (Dale) of Oakdale, LA; brothers, Russell Morales (Kathy) of Houma, LA, and David Morales (Judy) of Baton Rouge, LA; a sister-in-law Shirley Morales of Zachary, LA; grandchildren, Lauren and Jessica Morales, Jennifer Sager and Jesse Downey Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Riley Lawson and Clay Sager all of Millington. In addition to his parents, Mo was preceded in death by his brother, Claiborne Morales. Funeral services will be held on Friday March 9, 2012, at 1 p.m. in the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, 370 W. Cypress St., Millington, MD, where friends and family may call Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. Interment will follow in the Asbury Cemetery, Millington, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in his memory to the Millington Lions Club, P.O. Box 120, Millington, MD 21651. Funds will be used toward the Little League field project.
