Charles Alan Willis

Charles “Charlie” Willis, 62, of Millington, MD passed away at his home on May 11, 2024. Charlie lived a life that was so rich and full that it feels nearly impossible to put into words. He was born in Chestertown, MD on February 16, 1962 to Margaret and Walter “Mole” Willis. He grew up in Kennedyville, MD, the youngest of three children, and graduated from Kent County High School in 1981. Though he never attended a formal college, if asked he’d tell you he attended the “College of Hard Knocks”. Throughout his life he worked security in Chestertown’s finest establishments, was employed by Asplundh, spent many years at Dow Reichhold, and retired from Queen Anne’s County Roads in 2024. Charlie’s greatest sense of pride and joy was in his family. He met his match in Cathy, and in his wisest decision the two married on June 17, 1995. He was a devoted son, a wonderful father, and the best Pop Pop. Charlie was a busy man with many hobbies, including but not limited to hunting, lacrosse, fishing, gardening, photography, riding his motorcycle. He loved spending time and hunting with his labs, Babe, Buster, and Beau, as well as numerous rabbit dogs over the years. He volunteered with the Community Fire Company of Millington for over 20 years, and taught Hunter Safety Education. Charlie was always cracking a joke and striking up a conversation with people wherever he went. He’d always stop you to tell you that you dropped your pocket, and has spent years sending his grandkids on a search for the infamous wolf’n’poof, which has yet to be located. Charlie was preceded in death by his father, Walter “Mole” Willis, his step-father Jesse Bates “J.B.” Walls, and his brother Walter “Artie” Willis Jr. He is survived by his wife, Cathy Willis, his children Christina Piver, Sierra (Lex) Willis, Jessica (Shon) Willis, Chas (Claire) Willis, his mother Margaret Walls, his sister Robin (Nick) Dulin, and a whole gaggle of grandchildren. While he was a father of four, he was also Uncle Charlie to many who he considered his children: Erin (Michael) Legg, BJ (Hannah) Dulin, Samantha (John) Witt, Sam Jenkins, David Jenkins, Kayli (Jacob) Wandless, and Michael B. Freeman. A visitation will be held at Fellows Family Funeral Home on Sunday, May 19, 2024 from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM, with a service beginning at 3:00 PM. After the service, a celebration of life will be held at the Community Fire Company of Millington. The family requests casual attire with Harley Davidson or camouflage highly encouraged â€“ your Sunday best isn’t necessary.
