Cathy Jean Heinsohn

Cathy Jean Heinsohn of Cordova, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Talbot Hospice in Easton, Maryland, with her family by her side. She was 65. Born on May 18, 1960, in Easton, Maryland, Cathy was the daughter of the late Joseph Eugene Heim and Catherine Delores Pierson. She spent her childhood on Kent Island, where she enjoyed time on the waters of the Chesapeake Bay and treasured family vacations at the beach. Cathy was active in the youth choir at Kent Island United Methodist Church and played both trumpet and guitar. Creative from an early age, she loved poetry and writing and even composed songs as a teenager. After graduating from Queen Anne’s County High School in 1978, Cathy attended the University of Maryland and the MacQueen Gibbs Willis School of Nursing, becoming a Registered Nurse. She later continued her education at Wesley College in Dover, Delaware, earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Caring for others was not simply Cathy’s profession—it was at the center of who she was. Throughout her nursing career, she compassionately served her community in a variety of roles, including positions at Easton Memorial Hospital and Express Care, Upper Shore Community Health Center in Chestertown, Eastern Shore Hospital Center in Cambridge, and as a Case Manager for CareFirst in Easton. Cathy married her husband, Lee Heinsohn, in 1983. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, her greatest joy was her family. She especially loved hosting holiday gatherings, attending annual Pierson family reunions, and creating traditions and memories that brought loved ones together. Cathy had a gift for nurturing others and found immense happiness in caring for her grandchildren, whose lives were forever shaped by her steady presence and warmth. Her legacy lives on through the steadfast love, generosity, and devotion she gave so freely to her family. She enjoyed gardening, genealogy, music, and spending time outdoors. Whether through family stories, flowers in the garden, or time spent with those she loved, she found beauty in connection and care. Faith also remained an enduring and important part of Cathy’s life. As a child, she attended church each Sunday, where her father would drop her oﬀ and pick her up afterward. Later, as a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Cathy made sure her own children were raised in the church, bringing them regularly and grounding family life in love, compassion, and service to others. In addition to her husband, Lee, Cathy is survived by her daughter, Mindy Heinsohn (Erwin Estuardo Linde Dunbar); her sons, Cory Heinsohn (Erin) and Evan Heinsohn (Danielle); her grandchildren, Gavin Heinsohn, Emma Heinsohn, Beau Heinsohn, and Mia Heinsohn; her brothers, Joseph Heim Jr. and Bobby Heim; and her sister, Teresa Smith. In addition to her parents, Cathy was preceded in death by her son, Dylan Heinsohn. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, P.O.
