Catherine Ann Jones

Catherine Ann Jones (Cathy) of Preston, MD, passed away suddenly from heart complications at her home on October 17, 2022. She was 58. Born on May 27, 1964, in Okinawa, she was the daughter of the late Robert H. Price and the late Barbara A. (Callahan) Price. Being a military family, she lived in Okinawa, Michigan, and Arizona. Her father would retire in 1971 and moved the family to Trappe, where Cathy grew up most of her life and made lifelong friends. Cathy was a graduate of Easton High School Class of 1982. Cathy worked at the Easton Dairy Queen. Then after high school she worked in the Deli for A&P, which would become Super Fresh, for many years and transferred to Chestertown when the Easton store closed. She was married to Bruce Jones on October 19,1995, and lived in Centreville for a short time before making their home in Preston. She then became a stay-at-home mom to her son, Brandon, and daughter, Megan. She became active in Cub Scouts and Girls Scouts. Cathy would become Cookie Mom for Girl Scouts and participate in many camping adventures and would help organize Scout parties and events. As the kids got older, she went back to work at the Easton YMCA in the childcare center. Cathy helped at her brother and sister-in-law’s family business and would become full-time at PYC Awnings in 2013 and remained there until the time of her death. She enjoyed working alongside her family, especially her daughter, Megan. In true Cathy fashion, she would let them know when they weren’t doing things the ‘right’ way and always kept the shop straight. Cathy found her true love in quilting which would also bless her with many new friends. She found her ‘quilt girls’ at Covenant Quilting. Her quilts were not for her, and she always had a plan for the next quilt to go to someone else, but her greatest labor of love was making quilts for her family, especially her grandsons. Along with quilting, she most recently found herself beginning to enjoy camping with her husband. She enjoyed the quiet days and sitting by the fire pit or catching up with old friends when group camping was planned. She also enjoyed spending time with family and her two grandsons. Cathy is survived by her husband, Bruce; her son, Brandon Jones and wife Amanda; her daughter, Megan Jones and Peyton North; her grandsons, Nolan Jones and Garrett Jones; and her trusty companions, Tweeny and Mr. Kitty. She is also survived by her siblings, Laurie Kennedy (Pete), Steve Price (Raelyn Thompson), Joey Price (Teresa), Patty Miller (Wade), Ricky Price (Renee); brother-in-law Mike Jones (Dotty); longtime friend and sister-in-law, Sandy Price; and many loving nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday November 13, 2022, at 1pm at Trappe Volunteer Firehouse in Trappe.
