Beulah M. Jackson

Beulah Marguerite Jackson passed from this world to her heavenly home with Jesus on January 6, 2016. Beulah was born in Carroll County, VA, on March 20, 1917. Her mother was Alma Jennings and her father was Elmer Jennings. She spent her childhood in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia with her sisters, Bea and June, and her brothers, Jimmy and Adee. Her grandpa and grandma Vaughn were very special to her. In her teens, the family moved to Montgomery County, MD, where she graduated from Montgomery High School. She married William Lee Duvall in 1933. Her children, Deanna and Jim, were born in Montgomery County. The family moved to Baltimore in 1945, where Beulah lived for the next 50 years. In 1960, Beulah married Harwood Jackson, who was known as Jack to her family. They enjoyed life together and had many friends with whom they played golf and bridge at the Hillendale and Hunt Valley golf clubs. Beulah was a member of the Three Arts Club of Baltimore and became an accomplished artist. She blessed her family with beautiful oil paintings for each person, created with their personality in mind. Beulah and Harwood moved to the Eastern Shore in 1995 to be near their family. We all knew how much they loved us when their faces lit up as we came through the door. Gam was always interested in everyone’s activities, although she always thought they worked too hard but were never paid enough. Throughout her life she gave her love and gifts without restraint. There are many ways that Gam came to touch each and every one of us. In particular, the undying love, care, and attention that emanated from her was remarkable. This was seen in all areas of her life including her school, work, hobbies, relationships with loved ones, and, most importantly, her relationship with Jesus. Gam’s beautiful love for Jesus and family was her greatest asset, with goodness and mercy at the root. She poured herself freely and abundantly into all of us. We have all been touched to the core and graced by her presence. In her eyes, only belief in Jesus and the teachings of the Lord can bring us to our heavenly destiny. Beulah was known to all her family as Gam. She leaves her daughter, Deanna Daniels and son-in-law, Luke Daniels; her son, Jim Duvall; her grandchildren, April Walter and husband Michael, Tom Daniels and Margie Daniels, Tim Daniels and wife Debbie, Scott Duvall and wife Tiffany, Mike Duvall and fiancé Cher, and David Duvall and wife Chris; ten great grandchildren, Jessi, Sarah, Justin, Caity, Luke, Megan, Bennett, Nathan, Mackenzie, Autumn, and Brittany; and four great-grandchildren, Justin, Olivia, Annabelle and Brayden, with Mariana on the way. Now in her heavenly abode, Gam has joined Harwood, who passed in January 2007, and Jim, who passed in January 2015. She resides in the halls of heaven, rejoicing and proclaiming “Free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty, we are free at last.” It is but by the love and grace of Jesus Christ that we too will someday join them and proclaim the same. Let us today turn our eyes and hearts toward that beautiful promise. The Celebration of Life for Beulah has been postponed due to weather. A future date will be announced in the near future.
