Berton J. Fuchs RIDGELY: Berton John Fuchs of Ridgely passed away on Friday evening, March 20, 2009 at Easton Memorial Hospital, Easton MD. HE was 48 years old. Born on May 14, 1960 in Salisbury, MD he was the son of Ernest D. Fuchs of Easton, MD and the late Patsy Ray Wittke of Preston. Bert, as he was affectionately known by friends and family, grew up in Centreville, Kent Island and Easton. In June in 1981, he married the former Wanda Sparks of Greensboro, MD and the two moved together to Dallas, TX shortly there after. While living in Dallas, Bert was happily employed as a long-haul truck driver for such companies as Mary Kay Cosmetics, H.L. Hunt Products, and Schneider International Trucking. When he was not on the road, Bert enjoyed entertaining his friends and family with humorous stories about his experiences while travelling. With a personality larger than life, everyday and every journey was an adventure for Bert and another story waiting to be told. In early 1986, he returned to Maryland and was employed by Tidewater Trucking Company in Crisfield, MD. In 1988, after sustaining an injury which impaired his vision, Bert went to work as a farmer with his father on farms in Cordova and Ridgely MD. He was a loyal and long time member of Easton Moose Lodge #1520 in Easton and enjoyed participating in many charity fundraising events for his local community. In addition to Wanda, his loving wife of 27 years, and his father, Bert is survived by 2 sisters, Beth Lacey an her husband Bill of Oxford and Betsy Childs of Stevensville; 2 nieces, Haley Childs of Oxford and Tina Louise Sparks of Greensboro; one nephew Randy Murphy of Boston, MA; his paternal grandmother, Frieda M. Fuchs of Denton; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and loving friends. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. at 4:00 PM where friends may call from 3-4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Easton Moose Lodge #1520, Mooseheart Moose Charities, 155 S. International Dr., Mooseheart, IL 60539.
