Barbara L. von Kleeck

Barbara von Kleeck, loving mother of three and wife of John von Kleeck, passed to her eternal heavenly home on Sunday June 14, 2015, at Talbot Hospice House in Easton, MD. Barbara’s caring and loving nature could be seen through her lifelong dedication as a nurse and her community involvement. She enjoyed spending time with friends, family, grandchildren, and being an active member of the First Baptist Church of Easton. Born 1939 in Brooklyn, NY, to Karen and Victor Thompson, Barbara and her sister, Elizabeth, enjoyed vacationing at Lake Winnipesauke, NH, and playing with their dog, Kevin. She served as a nursing aide during high school and later received her nursing degree from Russell Sage College in 1961. Barbara married John in 1961 and together they raised their sons, Scott, Mark, and Eric. Barbara dedicated her life to helping others and served as a nurse in hospitals and medical facilities throughout California, New York, New Jersey, and Maryland. Barbara was also an active member of the community and instantly made friends through her involvement in numerous community and church activities. The impact she had on others has been warmly expressed through messages from countless friends and neighbors. Barbara’s faith in God could be seen through her involvement at the First Presbyterian Church of Lambertville, NJ, and the First Baptist Church of Easton, MD. The enduring faith and prayers over the last year from the community were comforting and could be lovingly felt during her struggle with pancreatic cancer. While all are saddened at her loss, through her faith and support of others, she was comforted during her transition to Heaven. Barbara is survived by her loving husband, John who has been by her side for over 55 years. Their only real disagreements revolved around who could help and care for each other more. Survivors also include son Scott and daughter-in-law Dorette; son Mark; son Eric and daughter-in-law Faith; and grandchildren Ryan, Rachael, and Kayley, who will miss her loving spirit. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday June 18 with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Easton, 115 Idlewild Ave, Easton, MD. Burial will be private.
