Barbara Madary

Barbara S. Madary, of Easton, died at her home on Saturday, April 27, 2002. She was 65. Born in Cumberland, MD, December 7, 1936, she was the daughter of Grace Erdman Stark of Seaford, DE and the late John W. Stark. After graduating from Alleghany High School in Cumberland in 1953, she attended the University of Maryland where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Science Education in 1957. On January 26, 1957, she married C. Boyd Madary. Following his release from the U. S. Air Force, they made their home in Ridgewood, N.J. for twelve years and then Basking Ridge, N.J. for twelve years. While living there, she was associated with the Basking Ridge School System and then with the Handicapping Department of the United States Gold Association in Far Hills, N. J. They moved to Severna Park, MD in the late 1980’s and then to the Easton area in December of 1993. A member and Deacon of the Presbyterian Church of Easton, she was a former member of the Severna Park United Methodist Church. Active in many organizations, she was a member and Past President of the Alpha Omicron Pi College Sorority and a member and Past President of the Bayside Quilters as well as being a member of the Maryland Ornithological Society, the Boykin Spaniel Rescue Committee and the Cruising Sailors of St. Michaels. A person of great strength and wisdom, she was loved, not only by her family, but by all who knew her. Surviving, in addition to her husband and mother, are three sons, John B. Madary of Severna Park, MD, Daniel D. Madary of Baltimore, MD and David S. Madary of Reading, PA; a brother, John C. Stark of Cumberland, MD and four grandchildren, Katie E. Madary, Haylie H. S. Madary, C. Tyler Madary and Andrew J. Madary. Memorial services will be held on Friday, May 3rd, at 12 Noon at the Presbyterian Church of Easton. Private burial will be at Spring Hill Cemetery, Easton. Memorial donations may be made to the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association, 27001 Agoura Road, Suite 150, Calabasas, Hills, CA 91301-5104. Funeral arrangements are by the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., Easton.
