Barbara Elizabeth Ayers

Barbara Elizabeth Ayers was born May 27, 1936, to Charles Wilson and Sarah Jane Ayers. She departed life peacefully on August 15, 2022. She was educated in Talbot County Public Schools and graduated from Robert Russa Moton High School in 1955. After graduating high school, she worked most of her life as a housekeeper or nanny caring for several families. Barbara had a sweet, warm and nurturing personality which made her well-loved by all. She was the matriarch of the family and was always reaching out to help anyone in need. If you visited her, she welcomed you with open arms, and no one ever left her house hungry. She made sure you left with a smile on your face and laughing. Tradition was important to her, and she loved bringing the family together for family dinners and holidays. Barbara enjoyed cooking and loved to try new recipes. She loved her soap operas (As the World Turns, The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless). If you tried to talk to her during an episode, she would turn the volume up to let you know she was missing her stories. Barbara loved watching her Baltimore Ravens and Orioles play. She loved to travel and was blessed to see many beautiful places over the years. And she loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren with whom she had a special bond with each. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles Ayers, William Ayers, Edward Ayers and Charles Smothers; one sister, Jean Moaney; one son, Darrin Williams; and one grandson, Michael Bixby. She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory two sons, Keith Ayers (Nisee) and Shelton Jones both of Easton, MD; two daughters Cassandra Guy (Robert) of Cordova, MD, and Nicole Walker of Easton, MD; eight grandchildren, Sierra Ayers, Shontia Williams, Brandy Guy, Sarah Ayers, Brandon Guy, Tyjrae Banks, Christopher Guy and Nicholas Walker; one bonus grandchild, Tyquan Beckett; two great-grandchildren, Remington Bixby and Emberly Cephas; two sisters, Doris Butler of Salisbury, MD, and Brenda Brittingham of Easton, MD, one brother Robert Ayers of Easton, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a special friend, Gloria Wimberly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am, August 29, 2022, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Easton, MD. Burial will follow in the church's cemetery.
