Anthony D. Turner, Sr.

Anthony David Turner Sr., surrounded by many of his loved ones, slipped away to take his eternal rest on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at the Shore Health Hospital System in Easton, MD. “Bo Skee”, as he was affectionately called, was born in Chestertown, MD on January 21, 1955 to the late, Henry “Bo” and Bernice Johnso Turner. He was educated in the Kent County Public School System and grew up in the Washington Park Community of Chestertown. On July 27, 1985 he was united in Holy Matrimony to the former, Sandra Wilmore. A very true example of “till death do us apart” union that was blessed with three children Tashaye and twins, Anthony Jr. and Arraye. Bo had worked at various jobs including Campbell Soup Co., Vesicol Chemical, Dover Downs and most recently Reeb Millwork. He was a faithful member of St. Daniels United Methodist Church where he willingly served in various capacities including Trustee, ushering, singing in the Choir and working on the Kitchen and Cleaning Committees. He was married in and remained a loyal supporter of Jeffers Chapel in Sagefield. He loved hosting cookouts for family and friends, possessed a green thumb caring for his beautiful house plants and flowers in his lawn. He was a genuine coach potato with his remote near by. A natural born jokester he was always making people laugh and that kept a smile on his face. But he was very serious when it came to keeping in touch with his loved ones including daily calls to his mother-in-law. Through his open heart surgery and all of his other serious health issues Bo always kept a very positive attitude but most important, Thank God, he always kept the faith. He would say that all he could do was pray to God for the victory. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Bernice Turner; a brother, Richard Cannon and his beloved son-in-law, Ronald Hilliard. He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish precious memories his devoted wife Sandy, his children, Tashaye Hilliard, Pondtown, Md and Anthony Jr. and Arraye Turner, at home. His beloved grandchildren, Ka’Miya and Keaira Hilliard; five brothers, Dwight (Elenora) Lassiter, Baltimore, MD, Leon (Theresa) Turner, Camden, NJ, Robert Cannon, Camden, NJ, Brian (Stephanie)Black, Chestertown, MD, Roger (Dierdre) Turner, Newark, DE; two sisters, Karen (Mark) Nicholson, and Diana Hale of Chestertown, MD; His Aunt, Pearl Hackett, Chestertown, MD; Mother-in-law, Sylvia Wilmore, Sudlersville, MD; two sister-in-laws, Vernessa (Darryl) Cooper Sudlersville, MD and Vana Wilmore, Dover, DE; his brother-in-law James “Dickie” (Patty) Wilmore, Dover DE; special cousin, Sylvia Mae Sparks and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends and his beloved Church Hill- Burrisville Church Charge Family. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 1:00 PM at First United Methodist Church in Chestertown, Maryland. Friends and family may call one hour prior to the service (12:00PM to 1:00PM) and on Wednesday, May 12 from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home in Chestertown, MD. Interment will be in Quaker Neck Cemetery.
