Andre Warren Tarte

At the age of 87, Warren Tarte (Wart) passed away from renal failure on November 02, 2023, at Easton Hospital. He was born on August 27, 1936, in Washington, D.C., the only son of Alston and Julia Tarte. He was brought up in New York State living in various places: Gouverneur, Portville, Auburn, Ithaca and Geneva. He lived for many years with his maternal grandmother Eva Leschak and an aunt and uncle; Irene and Al Drinkwater. Warren graduated from Geneva High School in 1955 and returned there for many class reunions. Upon graduation he moved to the Washington, D.C. area, enrolling in the University of Maryland at College Park. He worked his way through college and graduated in 1962 with a BS degree in Industrial Management. A good student and National Honor Society member, he loved math and the sciences. During his college years he enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves, serving 6 months active duty and 5-1/2 years active reserve duty and honorably discharged in 1965. Upon college graduation and a short stint in private industry, he entered federal government service with the Department of the Interior then transferred to the National Security Agency in 1964. The highlight of his 30-year career with NSA was a 5-year assignment to North Yorkshire, England, which included the employment of his wife, Mary Patricia. Mary Patricia and Warren were married on December 17, 1971, at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Baltimore, MD. Then on November 1, 2015, they remarried in St. Christopher’s Catholic Church in Chester, MD. They were married for 52 years, living in Gambrills, MD; Harrogate, England; Davidsonville, MD and finally on the Eastern Shore in Easton, MD. Although Warren was brought up in Russian Orthodox, Episcopalian and Lutheran churches, he always loved the Catholic Mass. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Easton, MD for 18 years. Pat and Warren raised four beautiful children: Michael Roger Hendrie (wife Jori, Orange, CA); Patrick Wayne Hendrie (wife Trish, Ellendale, DE); June Anne Hendrie (Queenstown, MD); Robert Warren Tarte (wife Tara, Millersville, MD). In addition to these children Warren is also survived by a son Darrell Tarte (Cheryl) and a daughter Wendy Tarte. Warren is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Sean Hendrie (Summer) and Katie Cannon (A.J.); Nathaniel Tarte, Abigal Tarte, Max Tarte, Lou Tarte, step-grandchildren; Teagan, Richard and Hudson; Kayla Tarte and Jake Tarte. And 2 great-grandchildren; Ellie Marie Cannon and Caroline Jane Hendrie. Warren is predeceased by an older sister, Judith Jacobs. Warren’s interests included reading, Sudoku puzzles, the movies and airplane modeling. At his home in Easton Club East, he was a member of the Modelers Club and belonged to the local flying club, Eastern Shore Aeromodelers in Hurlock, MD. He retired from modeling in 2017. But his true passion was reading. He was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather and was truly loved by his family and everyone he met. He was a Very Good Man and will always be remembered as such.
