Alberta May Ford

Alberta May (Busch) Ford of Chestertown, Md. died on Monday August 20, 2001 at Chestertown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chestertown, Md. She was 75. Born in Shelltown, Md. she was the daughter of the late John and Lillian Green Busch. Mrs. Ford moved to New York at a young age where she graduated High School. She married Fred T. Ford Jr. on December 16, 1945 they lived in Bellmore, New York until moving to Fairmount, Md. In Fairmount, Mrs. Ford was a member of the Fairmount Homemakers and Christ United Methodist Church where she was involved with the United Methodist Women and was choir director. In 1963, with her husband, she moved to Chestertown, Md. She was involved with Kent County Mental Health where she volunteered much of her time; she also attended 1st United Methodist Church. Later she and her husband moved back to Marion Station, near Crisfield, Md. where she volunteered at McCready Nursing Home in Crisfield and again attended Christ United Methodist Church. She was also membership chairperson of the Fairmount Academy. In 1963 her husband and her son, Thomas R. Ford, preceded her in death. Mrs. Ford enjoyed gardening, reading, nature, singing, and volunteering. She is survived by 2 daughters: Linda Ford (Richard Widerkehr) of Bellingham, WA and Barbara Joyce (William) of Chestertown, Md., a daughter in law: Mary Ford of Marydel, Md. along with 2 grandsons: Eli and Josh Ford. Funeral Services will be held on Friday August 24, 2001 at 2:00 at Christ United Methodist Church in Fairmount, Md. where relatives and friends may call one hour prior (1:00-2:00). Relatives and friends may also call on Thursday August 23, 2001 between the hours of 10:00 and 11:00 A.M. when a service will be held at 11:00 at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home 130 Speer Rd. Chestertown, Md. Interment will be in Fairmount Cemetery after the church service on Friday.
