Alan J. Simpson

Alan J. Simpson of Easton, MD died on Tuesday, October 13, 2009. He was born in Wakefield, England, on October 8, 1945 to Joyce Clarkson Simpson and Herbert Austin Simpson. He attended North London Polytechnic and the University of London. Was an officer in the Royal Air Force serving from 1967 to 1976. Mr. Simpson was President of Communication Links, Inc., a consulting firm tracking geopolitical trends, social media and information technologies that affect profitability and survival of global and national corporations. He had 30+ years international experience with projects in over 80 countries. He spoke at the United Nations, New York on five occasions, testified before the House of Representatives, the US Senate, keynoted major conferences, including at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, and with several hundred appearances on major TV and radio networks worldwide. He has authored several hundred briefs for governments and corporations, as well as commentary and articles for print, online and electronic media. He is credited with developing Open Source Intelligence for corporations in Europe and the United States since the 1970's. He conducted workshops in Europe and the United States. For the Reagan Administration he gained unique experience surveying media facilities at 125 US Embassies and Consulates developing the WorldNet global television network. He was also a consultant to VisNews, BBC, Reuters, and CNN. Alan Simpson was a Member of the National Press Club, Radio and Television News Directors Association, Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, AFIO. He was nominated for President of the National Press Club in 2003. He is survived by his wife, Linda Schnabl Simpson of Easton, Maryland, two children, a son Philips Simpson (Allison) and daughter, Angela Simpson both of England. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Emma and Ross and two sisters, Susan Allatt and Sheila Thorn. A funeral will be held on Monday, October 19, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Easton, MD. Friends and family may call one hour prior.
