Adam Watkowski Jr.

ADAM J. WATKOWSKI, JR. Adam J. Watkowski, Jr., 76, of Kent Island, formerly of Locust Point, died September 23, 2006 at his home. Adam was born on December 17, 1929 to Adam A. and Frances A. Watkowski. He attended Our Lady of Good Counsel grammar school in Locust Point and Loyola High School in Blakefield. He worked as a carpenter for the Locust Point docks and also for the B&O Railroad. In 1949, he married his high school sweetheart, Margaret R. Schamberger, also of Locust Point and had three children, Cathy, Mary Margaret and Adam. He worked for Domino Sugar, retiring after 35 years of service as shipping supervisor. During that time he received his Associates Degree from Penn State University in Business Administration. During his life, he was an active member in the Knights of Columbus, Councils 4606 and 7941, Elks Lodge 2576, Moose Gold Club, Island Idlers, Kent Island Yacht Club, TOGOM Club, and Pigeon Club. He coordinated and catered many functions for most of the above groups. He enjoyed crabbing on his crab boat and traveling with his wife during his retirement. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by eight grandchildren, Tiffany, Nicole and Joseph, children of Cathy and Joseph Bishop, Jr.; Joseph, Matthew and Michael, children of Mary Margaret and Joseph Pocius; and Adam E., son of Adam A. and Lindsay, daughter of Adam A. and Phyllis Ellen Watkowski; and one great grandchild, Allison, daughter of Tiffany and Peter Bucknam. He is also survived by sisters Genevieve Welle, Sister Frances Watkowski SSND, Theresa Smith, and brother Milton Watkowski BS PD. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday September 28, 2006 at 11 AM at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church in Chester, MD. Friends and family may call at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P. A. in Chester, MD on Wednesday September 27, 2006 from 1-4PM and 6-9PM. Interment will be in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Baltimore, MD. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to St. Christopher’s Catholic Church Building Fund, 1816 Harbor Drive, Chester, MD 21619 or Hospice of Queen Anne’s, Inc., 423 Thompson Creek Road, Stevensville, MD 21666
