Adam Earl Britt

Adam Earl Britt entered the world on April 29, 1971 and the world was never the same. His birth was a delight to his parents Richard C. and Linda Severa Britt. From day one he was enjoyable and entertaining to be around and over the years developed a quick wit and an incredible sense of humor. This was often used to his advantage for getting out of the mischief he invariably got himself into. Even in the last years of his life, when his health began to decline and life became so difficult, he found something to laugh about every day. And what a contagious laugh it was. At an early age he formed a special bond with his Uncle Bunk Severa. Bunk taught him everything he knew and appreciated about Eastern Shore Life (some legal, some maybe not) and Adam spent many happy days during his adolescent and teenage years hunting, boating and exploring the Wye River, Kirwan Creek, Warehouse Creek and participating in the conservation of Matapeake Farm. He was also taught some awesome crabbing skills by his Granny Severa. His lifelong passion was hunting, fishing, crabbing, boating, the great outdoors, collection of all kinds of firearms and was an incredible shot. He particularly loved the years he lived on Taylor’s Island because he always thought it reminded him of the way Kent Island used to be. He was involved in the youth soccer league, baseball and scouts during his school years. He graduated from Queen Anne’s County High School in 1989. From there he went to Chesapeake College and eventually entered the car business where he was a finance manager at several dealerships for over 20 years until his health would no longer permit it. He was a member of the Kent Island Methodist Church, Bay Country Moose Lodge, Ducks Unlimited and a lifetime member of the NRA. He will be remembered as a wild and crazy guy who made scores of friends along life’s journey. One who helped you when he could until he couldn’t any longer and then his friends were there to help him. He bravely overcame cancer and a stroke but despite all efforts and painful procedures, finally succumbed to years of heart disease on July 27, 2024. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Edward and Charlotte Severa and Charles and Edna Britt; his uncle Bunk Severa and special cousin, Rodney Britt. He leaves to mourn his passing, his mother, Linda Severa Collier and stepfather, Butch; his father, Richard Britt and stepmother Debbie; his sister, Melinda Sewell (Jamie); half-sisters, Kirbie Dockery (Steve) and Kelsie Bowser; step-brother, Scott Collier (Sherry); nephews, Zachary (Ally) and Cameron Sewell, A.J., Brooks, Britt, Lucas; great-nephew and special pal, Riggins; Nieces, Anna, and Kallie; great niece, Pearl; two “adopted” children, Aaron and Shelby Tucker and many beloved cousins. Visitation will be Thursday, August 1, 2024 from 5 pm – 8 pm at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Chester, MD, with a funeral service at 11 am on Friday, August 2, 2024 at Kent Island Methodist Church and interment to follow in Stevensville Cemetery. Pall bearers are Chris Summers, Chad Horney, Brian Clendaniel, Grant Thomas, Michael Balsoma, Aaron Tucker, Zachary and Cameron Sewell. If in lieu of flowers, you want to send a memorial, it was Adam’s wish that you make a donation to Patriot Point, a recreational retreat for wounded military veterans on Taylor’s Island at 750 Taylors Island Rd. Madison, MD 21648.
