Vera S. Hill

Vera S. Hill of Easton, MD died on Thursday, September 2, 2004 at Memorial Hospital at Easton, after a long courageous battle with leukemia. She was 61. Born in Easton, September 24, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Irvin F., Jr. and Betty R. Jones Smith. A 1960 graduate of Easton High School, she attended Towson University for one year. She worked for a number of years at Rowens Stationary in Easton. From January 1982 until retiring in May of 2001, she was associated with William Hill Manor as the Activities Director. A lifelong resident of Easton, she was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church and the Talbot Country Club. She loved being with her family, going to the beach, visiting Disney World, playing golf, and her flower gardens. A creative decorator, she was known for her love of Christmas, and had won numerous first place prizes for window decorations at the time of the Waterfowl Festival. Mrs. Hill is survived by her husband, William C. Hill, whom she married June 4, 1987; two daughters, Susan Boggess Walter and her husband, Craig of Easton and Sara Boggess Meinsler and her husband, Tim of Glen Burnie; three step-children, Mimi Hill Shannahan and her husband, John of Oxford, Dr. William David Hill and his wife, Deborah of Easton, and Pamela Hill Lappen and her husband, Mark of Newcomb; two sisters, Catherine Smith Tull and her husband, Chuck, and Kimberly S. Dyott and her husband, Joe, all of Easton; fifteen grandchildren, Kendall Suydam, Samuel Meinsler, Tyler Walter, Emily Walter, Cynda Hill, Lynda Hill-Partawi, Will Hill, Chad Hill, Brittany Fisher, Hill Lappen, Hunter Lappen, Luke Lappen, Brittany Shannahan, Gray Shannahan and Reiley Shannahan; and her maternal uncle, Emory Jones of CA. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 5, 2004 at 2:30 PM at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Easton. Friends may call at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home on Saturday, September 4th from 6 to 8 PM and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, MD.
