Samantha Nicole Roark

Samantha Nicole Roark (Sam) of Still Pond, MD died October 1, 2016. She was 21. Born in Chestertown on June 23, 1995 Sam is survived by her loving parents Ronald M. and Lori A. Roark of Still Pond; brothers, Ronnie Roark, Jr. of Still Pond, MD; Joshua (Angela) Roark of Gainesville, VA; Jon Roark of Kennedyville, MD; Robert Nunley of Indianapolis, IN; sister Linda Roark of Worton, MD; and her maternal grandmother Alice Jo Cochran of Elkton, MD; paternal grandmother Rose Yarbro of Middletown. Sam was a 2013 graduate of Kent County High School and she lived her short life to the fullest with many passionate accomplishments. As a year round athlete, she excelled in Field Hockey, Basketball, and Softball. Following graduation, she was in her second year at Cecil College. She worked with Aquafit as a lifeguard and swim instructor, as well as the front desk, always ready to greet you with a smile. She was CPR certified and a Certified Pool Instructor. She also worked at Tolchester Marina both with the marina and at the Shanty Restaurant and bar. Sam also enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, and fishing. Sam was also a die hard Ravens fan and loved the Orioles. Her family was paramount, she adored her cousins, nieces, nephews and loved her friends. Sam was a straight shooter, loving, strong willed, considerate, and had a huge heart that will be missed beyond measure. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be made to the Samantha Roark Memorial Fund through The People's Bank, 100 Spring Avenue, Chestertown, MD 21620 to help with funeral costs. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home 130 Speer Road Chestertown where relatives and friends may call on Thursday, October 6th from 5:00-8:00 PM. Interment will be in Still Pond Cemetery. The Roark family would like to ask you to bring any mementos you would want to leave for Samantha. There will be a memory box at Thursday's service to collect those items. During the funeral service on Friday there will also be time if you would like to share a personal memory or story about Samantha. If you would like to speak, please try to keep it under a few minutes.
