S. Mark Hardesty Jr.

S. Mark Hardesty, Jr., of Stevensville, Maryland died suddenly at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD, on Sunday, May 17, 2003. He was 24 years old. Mark was born on March 10, 1979 in Baltimore and attended Queen Anne’s schools. He graduated from Queen Anne’s County High School in 1997 in Centreville, Maryland. As a young boy Mark enjoyed playing on the lacrosse and baseball recreational leagues in the county. He was a very passionate and avid sportsman primarily fishing, hunting and crabbing. He thoroughly enjoyed nature, the outdoors and was also a dirt bike enthusiast. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and time out on the Chesapeake Bay. Since high school, Mark had been employed by his father’s company, SM Hardesty Builders, as a carpenter in Stevensville, MD. His excellent carpentry craftsmanship skills earned him high praise amongst many present and former clients. Mark attended Calvary Memorial Baptist church in Mayo, MD and Christ Church in Stevensville, MD. Mark is survived by his loving and devoted mother, Dawn Como Hardesty Watkinson and stepfather, Terry Lee Watkinson of Stevensville; loving and devoted father, Sidney Mark Hardesty, Sr., and stepmother, Terry Lee Hardesty of Stevensville; loving and devoted brother, Gregory Dale Hardesty of Stevensville; sister, Taylor Lynn Hardesty of Baltimore; stepbrothers, Terry and Daniel Watkinson of Annapolis,MD and Ty and Tanner Custer of Stevensville, MD; loving maternal grandparents, Carl and Patricia Como of Summerfield, Florida, previously of Annapolis, and great grandmother, Helen Kisser of Summerfield, Florida and loving paternal grandparents, Carroll W. Hardesty, Sr., “Governor” and the late Leona Dove Hardesty of Annapolis, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral viewing will be held at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Chester, MD on Wednesday, May 21, 2003 from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at the Kent Island Methodist Church in Chester, MD on Thursday, May 22, 2003 at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at the Stevensville Cemetery.
