Ronald E. Reece Sr.

Ronald Earl Reece, Sr. of Clayton, DE died on Monday, February 17, 2003 on his horse farm in Clayton, DE. He was 54. Born November 14, 1948 in Rogersville, Tennessee, he was the son of Fay Kemp of Smyrna, DE and the late Dallas F. Reece, Sr. He moved here with his family as a young child. Ronnie was a welder by trade and he and his brothers, Dale and Caesar worked for the Boiler Makers Union for many years until he retired. Throughout his life he worked as a Logger, a trade handed down from his father when Mr. Reece and his sons ran the logging business for many years. Ronnie and his wife operated Reece Family Miniature Horse Farms in Clayton, DE and he took great pride in showing and caring for the Champion Miniature Horses and operating the farms. His favorite times were when the foals were born. He was very proud when The Reece Family was invited to represent the State of Delaware in the 1993 Presidential Inauguration in Washington DC. and the whole Reece family went, 32 family members, friends and 23 of their Champion Miniature Horses. He was a great friend to many and had a special talent for telling stories and jokes. Some of his best times were spent sitting outside in the yard, tinkering on equipment and talking with his boys. Ronnie was preceded in death by his father Dallas F. Reece Sr. and his brother Bruce (Caesar) Reece. In addition to his mother, Mr. Reece is survived by his wife of 17 years, Toni Reece of Clayton, DE; two sons, Ronald Reece Jr. "Buck" and Barry Dean Reece of Smyrna, DE; seven stepchildren, Natalie Schuler, Toni Watkins, Gina Brown, Michael Hodgeman, Danielle Hill "Peas", Jamie and Kristine Keeler; two brothers, Dallas Reece Jr. of Sudlersville, MD and Dale Reece of Millington, MD; one sister, Lisa Sipple of Smyrna, DE and 14 grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Ronnie was loved by all and will be in our hearts forever. Services will be held Sunday, February 23, 2003 at 2:00pm at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., 370 W. Cypress St., Millington, MD where friends may call Saturday, February 22, 2003 from 6-8 pm. Interment will follow services (Conditions allowing) at the Sudlersville Cemetery in Sudlersville, MD.
