Lee Chandler Bramble

Lee Chandler Bramble of Millington, MD, died Thursday, August 12, 2004, at the Chester River Hospital in Chestertown, MD. He was 78. Born March 15, 1926, in Millington, he was the son of the late Nathaniel S. and Mary A. Bailey Bramble. In the mid 1940’s, with so many of the older boys in Millington away in the war, a special permit from the DMV and the school board was issued, and, at 16 years old, Lee began driving a school bus. He drove until he was 18 when he went into the United States Army. Upon his return from the war in 1946, he used his G.I. Bill to purchase his first school bus from his father. Shortly after, he bought a gas station from Bob Logan, and along with his buses, he continued to own and run the gas station/car lot/towing service until 1979. Throughout his life, Mr. Bramble has had a passion for antique cars. He also enjoyed working in his shop and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Bramble was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Millington, MD, the Millington Lions Club, a Lifetime member of the American Legion Post 192, and a life member of the Millington Volunteer Fire Company. He was preceded in death by one sister, Sissy Conolley. Mr. Bramble is survived by his wife of 39 years, Janice F. Bramble of Millington; two sons, Jerry Bramble and wife Chris of Millington and Lt. Gene Teat and wife Jennifer of Chestertown, MD; three daughters, Karen Miller of Camden, DE, Joyce Prickett and husband Jimmy of Church Hill, MD, and Missi Colella and husband Mike of Hilton Head Island, SC; two sisters, Edith Lantz Benton and husband Chuck of Sun City, CA, Francis Shields and husband Jim of Sarasota, FL; eleven grandchildren, Derek Bramble of Millington, G.T. Teat and Krista Teat of Chestertown, MD, Jay Miller of Dover, DE, Josh Miller of Baltimore, MD, Stacie Miller of Cleveland, OH, Blaire and Samantha Prickett of Church Hill, MD, AJ Mike Jr., and Jaden Colella, all of Hilton Head Island, SC; and one great-grandchild. Services will be held Tuesday, August 17, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., 370 W. Cypress St., Millington with full fire honors. A visitation will be held Monday, August 16, 2004, from 7-9 p.m. also at the funeral home. Interment will be held in the Asbury Cemetery in Millington, MD, following the service.
