Ja'na Davonna Tate

Ja'na Davonna Tate of Smyrna, DE passed away Friday, March 31, 2023 at Christiana Hospital. She was 32 years old. Ja'na was born October 25, 1990 in Dover, DE, the daughter of Arthur Vincent Tate and the late Margaret Renee Walker. She graduated from James H. Groves High School in 2009. Over the years, she continued her education, receiving a Criminal Justice Associate's degree from Delaware Technical Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Wilmington University. She was a Phi Theta Kappa, Si Chi, All-State Academic Team, and Del Tech cross-country team member. She received the All Delaware Academic and USA Academic Awards. Ja'na began as an intern for Lt. Governor Bethany Hall-Long and became the Legislative Assistant to the Lt. Governor for the Behavioral Health Consortium. She influenced policy for the State of DE. Ja'na enjoyed woodworking, gardening, cheering on the New England Patriots, going to the beach, and caring for her beloved hedgehogs. In addition to her great-grandparents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Renee Walker. Ja'na is survived by her father, Arthur V. Tate (Gwendolyn) of Smyrna, DE, two brothers, Cedale Downes of Dover, DE, Voncel Tate of Smyrna, DE, four uncles, Marion Fuller of Bradenton, FL, Herman Fuller (Dee) of Dover, DE, William Taylor (Darlene) of Dover, DE, Brian Tate of Chestertown, MD, three aunts, Charlene Boyd (Ernest) of Georgia, Sarah Gibbs (Moses) of San Antonio, TX, Eileen Williams of Dover, DE. She is also survived by her devoted cousin, Joshua Williams; devoted niece, Shiana Hall Carter; devoted nephew, Jaire Hall; adopted grandmother Betty Combs and grandfather Robert Collins; her extended family, Maria, and Bryce Bunce; sister and brother, Daniel and Naomi Wolf and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great aunts and uncles and many other family and friends. A visitation will be held Monday, April 17, 2023, from 10 am-11 am at Townsend Church 4519 Dupont Pkwy, Townsend, DE 19734. Services will begin at 11 am with a Repass to follow the service in the church hall. Interment will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at 10 am at Chesterville Cemetery in Millington, MD.
