Heller Halliday

Mary Heller Halliday, age 82, of Chestertown, Maryland, peacefully passed away on Sunday April 21, 2024 at home with her husband, Martin, and loved ones by her side. She was born in Los Angeles, California on Tuesday, November 4th, 1941, to the late theatrical producer, Richard Halliday and the Broadway actress and singer, Mary Martin. Heller was an alumna of the George School in Pennsylvania and a graduate of Colby Junior College in New Hampshire. A talented dancer and actress, Heller appeared and performed in notable productions such as Peter Pan, and The Skin of Our Teeth. She starred as Liza in the original Broadway cast of Peter Pan and in the original 1955 NBC Color Television Production of the show. Heller also modelled at Elizabeth Arden in New York City. Whether it was the arts, hummingbirds, colorful flowers, or stars in the night sky, Heller had an inherent relationship with all things of natural beauty on earth. She loved to smile and sing, dream, dance, blow kisses to her mother, Mary and brother, Larry Hagman in heaven, and reenact the “Crow” call in Peter Pan. Throughout her adventurous journey, Heller made many acquaintances and built relationships with numerous people from all walks of life. She understood that each of us sees the world through a different lens and enjoyed a variety of personalities. Heller looked past the differences of and in people, which many of us cannot. She loved to dream and always envisioned a beautiful world. Heller loved all animals especially her Happy Talk, Lincoln, Latte, Nellie and Scooter. In addition to her parents, Heller is preceded in death by her brother and fellow actor, Larry Hagman. Heller is survived by many beautiful needlework projects she passed on to those she loved. Additionally, she is survived by her husband Martin Carrigan, children Timothy Weir (Lucrecia), Mathew Weir, Mary Devon DeMerritt, Geoffery DeMeritt (Jenny), eight grandchildren, nephew Preston Hagman (Audrey). Special friends, Tim and Lindsey Buckless, Betta Fraccaroli, Biffy Wiltbank, Dr. Gerard O’Conor and Cathy. A special thanks to all the medical professionals that helped care for Heller. A visitation will be held at FHN Wednesday, May 1st 5-7pm. Funeral services will be the following day, May 2nd at 11:00am with a reception to follow.
