Albert Joseph Califano, beloved husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, dear brother, esteemed colleague and friend, passed away on June 12, 2024, at the age of 75. Albert was the beloved husband of Diane Califano, with whom he shared an abundance of love, joy, and treasured memories. As a devoted father, he was the guiding light for his four children: Anthony Califano, Joseph Califano, Ann McLaughlin, and Gina Califano. He nurtured them with boundless love and wisdom, leaving behind a legacy of integrity and kindness. His role as a father extended to his cherished role as a grandfather to 11 grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to his life. Albert (Buddy) was a dear brother to his four siblings, including three sisters and a brother, with whom he shared countless moments of laughter, support, and camaraderie. Albert's professional life was marked by dedication and service. He spent 30 years with the Maryland State Highway Administration as a highway designer, contributing significantly to the development and safety of Maryland's roadways. Following his tenure there, he continued his career with Streetscapes Inc. for 20 years, further showcasing his expertise and passion for creating functional and beautiful urban spaces. A proud Army veteran, Albert served his country with honor and bravery, embodying the true spirit of patriotism and duty. Albert's love for the water was well-known among family and friends. He found solace in crabbing, boating, and simply being on the water. The tranquility of the eastern shore life brought him immense peace and happiness. Albert Joseph Califano will be remembered for his warm heart, steadfast dedication, and the profound impact he had on all who knew him. His legacy of love, hard work, and devotion will continue to inspire and guide his family and friends. Family will receive visitors at the Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam funeral home in Chester, MD at 106 Shamrock Road on Monday, June 17, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Further visitation will be held on Tuesday morning from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm with interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery. Albert's spirit will forever be anchored in the hearts of those who loved him. May he rest in eternal peace.
