William R. Myers Sr.

February 21, 1938 - February 4, 2022

William Robert Myers Sr, 83, of Sudlersville, Maryland, passed away peacefully, following a short illness surrounded by his loving family on Friday, February 4, 2022, at the Compass Regional Hospice. He was born on February 21, 1938, in Still Pond, Maryland, the son of John Walker Myers and Elizabeth (Jamar) Myers of Betterton, Maryland. Bill grew up on the Chesapeake Bay in Betterton, Maryland, and a graduate of Kent County High School. He entered the United States National Guard and served from 1954 to 1963. By trade, Bill was a carpenter and worked many years with Willow Construction and retired from Gunston Day School. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, only sister, Elaine Myers, and his loving wife of 36 years, Margaret Jane (Chance), whom he married on April 12, 1964 and they resided in Centreville, Maryland where they raised their three children. Bill (Pop) is survived by his two sons and one daughter, Billy (Marie) Myers, Centreville, MD, Nancy (Steve) Shortall, Centreville, MD, and John (Lana) Myers, Felton, DE., his six-grandchildren, Michael and Brian Myers, Stefanie Clough and Heather Powell, Christian King and Preston Kough, his nine great-grandchildren, and also Pop-Pop to the children at Nancy’s home daycare. Bill enjoyed spending time with his family, and crabbing and fishing on the Chester River. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at 11am at the Chesterfield Cemetery in Centreville, Maryland.
