Robert Louis Sutton of Chestertown, MD died on January 27, 2022 at his home. He was 79. Mr. Sutton was born in Darby, PA on August 28, 1942, the son of the late John and Edna Sutton. He grew up in Aston, PA. He graduated from Eddystone High School in 1959 and married his high school sweetheart, Shirley, on May 11, 1963. He served in the Air Force as a mechanic on SAM missiles while stationed at Loring Air Force Base in Maine. He was honorably discharged in 1966 and returned home to Pennsylvania. He received an engineering degree and went on to work for General Electric and then Control Switch, which brought him to Chestertown, MD, then Sarasota, FL. He later returned to Chestertown to change careers and started his own business, pursuing his love of Corvette and antique car restoration. He enjoyed model trains, winning at Monopoly, and watching sci-fi movies. He will be remembered for his easygoing nature, fun-loving pranks, classic jokes, smile, and love for his family. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; his children, Robert R. Sutton (Laurie), Jennifer Wilson, Michelle Ashley (Russell), and Jonathan Sutton; and his grandchildren, Brandon, Valerie, Clara, Jacob, and Sylvia; and his brother Jack Sutton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joan Twaddell. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, February 4 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home in Chestertown.
