Raymond Robert Carpenter Sr.

Raymond Robert Carpenter, Sr. “Big Mike” passed away January 18, 2022 at Bayhealth Hopsital in Dover, DE. He was 76. Born July 2, 1945, in Oxford PA to William R. and Esther R. (Cook) Carpenter, “Big Mike” grew up in Pennsylvania before moving to Maryland. He served his country in the United States Army. In 1965, he married Norma Jean Wallace and they had three boys. He loved spending time with his family, going fishing and playing cards. He worked most of his life as a truck driver in the construction industry and retired in 2006 most recently driving for Mike Davidson. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Reese W Carpenter, Sr., brother’s Ralph, Richard, Reese G. Carpenter and a sister, Rose McGuire. He is survived by sons Raymond “Mike” Carpenter of Centreville and Charles R Carpenter of Goldsboro. Brothers in law Stephen “Mark” Wallace of Ridgley and Charles T. Wallace of Denton. A brother Roy Carpenter (Vicki) of Crumpton, sisters, Ruth Ann Cahall (Roger) of Townsend DE and Roberta Pratt of Downs Chapel, DE. 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Services will be private.
