On Thursday, September 9th at 5:41 pm, Ralph L. Gunn began his journey into the hereafter. He was with his wife Patricia J. Gunn and son Douglas L. Gunn when he passed. Ralph died of heart failure at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He was visited by his daughter, Laura L. Evers, son-in-law Wally E. Evers, daughter- in-low Natalie Gunn and three of his grandchildren Morgan Gunn, Carson Gunn and Erika Evers. Ralph was born in Ft. Madison, Iowa on December 27, 1934, He graduated from the University of Iowa with a B.S. in Psychology. He served two years of active duty for the Army before marrying Patricia J. Ohrn on September 3, 1961. Ralph became a charter member of the Senior Executive Service in 1979 while working as the Director of Data Processing for the Dept. of the Army. He retired in 1994 before graduating from the Wesley Theological Seminary with a Masters Degree in Theological Studies in 1995. He became an educator and professor for the next two decades immersed in his passion for history, intellectual inquiry and growth. Ralph was a generous, kind, and visionary contributor to humanity and the welfare of all people. Known for his quick thinking and ready laugh, he was a beloved minister and friend. Being a prolific reader, Ralph was committed to learning, challenging accepted norms and myths while being a completely devoted husband of 60+ years. He was a source of inspiration for his children, family and countless others. He will be dearly missed by the many lives that he touched. Services will be posted when available.
