Penelope Kay Hollingsworth of Rock Hall, MD died on September 28, 2021. She was 77. Penelope was born on July 31, 1944 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of the late Arthur and Sarah Marie Hollingsworth. She graduated from Edsel Ford High School and went on to study at Wayne State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and later a Master of Fine Arts. She worked as an Arts professor at Florida A&M University before moving to Kent County, first residing in Still Pond and Chestertown before living in Rock Hall. Penelope had a long and successful career as an artist. She worked as a scientific illustrator at the Smithsonian Institute for several years. She will be forever remembered for her mural at the Assateague Island Visitor’s Center. She was truly an exceptional artist. She also enjoyed kayaking, rowing, hiking, and loved her dog Piper. In addition to Piper, she is survived by her nieces, Lynda Grant of Simi Valley, CA and Ginger Aschebrock of Wisconsin. Services will be held privately.
