Michael Irving Silver

Michael Irving Silver, 77, of Easton, passed away on November 18, 2021. Michael was born on July 12, 1944, to Simon Silver and Gertrude (Salsitz) Silver in Brooklyn, NY. He studied at New College of Hofstra, majoring in Psychology. Michael loved music, and played piano, bass and drums in various high school and local bands, as well as in the Catskills, where he spent many summers in his youth. He loved attending the theater, and was an expert crossword puzzler. During his career, he worked as a finance administrator for several non-profit organizations, including the Children’s Health Fund and chapters of the American Red Cross. He was a member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island, and mentored a “little brother” for seven years; he was “Big Brother of the Year” in 2001. After retiring to Easton, he served on the Board of Directors for the Talbot County Library as well as for Temple B’Nai Israel. Michael is survived by his wife, Susan Silver (Spector), daughter Gillian B. Silver; brother Bernard Silver; sister Donna Silver and stepsister Michaeline Fedder. There will be a visitation at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, 200 S. Harrison St., Easton on Sunday November 21, 2021 at 12 noon, a memorial service at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, Michael requested that donations be made to Big Brothers and Sisters of Long Island. At the request of the family, please wear a mask.
