Marjorie Ann Haines
May 12, 1921 - March 26, 2022
Marjorie Ann Haines passed away on March 26, 2022 at the age of 100 years in the company of her loving daughters at her home in Easton, Maryland. She was born to Kenneth Warren Heinrich and Margaret Annunciata Carlin Heinrich and spent a wonderful 95 plus years of her life residing in New Jersey. “Marge” was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Roger Kirk Haines. Marjorie is survived by her three children: Marjorie Berleth, Jannette Talbot-Owen and Stan Haines. Marjorie was very proud of the family that she “begat” (her words) that includes nine grandchildren (and spouses), nineteen great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. Many of them were in attendance at her 100th birthday celebration last May. Marjorie and Roger were accomplished ballroom dancers and were often surrounded by groups that backed off and encircled them to admire their skills. According to this amazing couple, they spent their best times in Cape May, NJ aboard the aptly named “MAROG”. Their cabin cruiser was the social hub of D-Dock and hosted numerous parties with their fellow sailors. Marge’s athletic achievements were plentiful. At the age of 50 she was the New Jersey State figure roller skating champion. She even did it with two broken wrists suffered in a training accident. Incredible. After retiring from competitive skating she took up bowling. Once the house was full of trophies she moved on to golf and became club champion while in her 60’s. She continued to play golf well into her 90’s and at the age of 100 was often seen putting in the hallways at Candle Light Cove Senior Community. As an avid Philadelphia sports fan, Marge was especially loyal to the Phillies and attended games regularly. She used to help host the Ryder Doral Golf Tournament where she met many of her favorite PGA pros. She particularly liked Lee Trevino, Fuzzy Zoeller and Arnold Palmer. Always the perfect hostess, Marjorie could whip up a fast feast for unexpected guests. Her culinary skills are best remembered by those lucky enough to enjoy one of her rib roasts or her succulent cinnamon buns. Marge was an amazingly skilled seamstress and created stunning wedding dresses for her daughters, dance and skate costumes, her daily wardrobe, and even Halloween costumes for her grandchildren. Marjorie always said that she wanted her legacy to reflect her ability to laugh. Her example of humor, dedication to family, compassion and the will to live shall inspire many people for a very long time. A private Celebration of Life will be held by the family.
