September 27, 1943 - February 28, 2022

Louise “Babs” Danneberg of Chestertown, MD formerly of Rock Hall, MD died on February 28 at Heron Point Retirement Community. She was 78. She was born in Philadelphia during the last blackout of WWII on September 27, 1943, the daughter of the late Henry Fritz and Mary Brown Keyser. She was a member of the class of 1961 from Springfield Township High School in Montgomery County, PA and earned a bachelor’s degree in 1965 in Library Science from Millersville University. In 1967 she married William H. Danneberg Jr., and they made their home in Cherry Hill, NJ. Upon William’s retirement they moved to Rock Hall, MD. He predeceased her in 2006. Louise worked with the Upper Dublin School District as an Elementary School Librarian. She also worked as a substitute teacher and a preschool educator. Upon moving to Rock Hall, she worked as a teacher with the Head Start Program. Upon retirement, Louise volunteered countless hours with the Kent County Public Library, the Rock Hall Library, Friends of Eastern Neck Wildlife Refuge, and within the Heron Point Community in the library and gift shop. She was a devout member of Hope Fellowship Church and the Rock Hall Garden Club, and took many classes at Washington College. She was a past member of Rock Hall Yacht Club and the Swan Creek Sailing Association. Despite her busy hours as a volunteer, Louise never lost sight of her greatest passion, being a mother and grandmother to her two children and four grandchildren, and her cat Rocky. She loved bible study, animal welfare, sailing, and international travel [with Elder Hostel and Rhodes Scholar Programs]. She is survived by her son: William H. Danneberg III and his wife Melissa of Riva, MD, her daughter: Elizabeth “Betsy” Ann Flaim and her husband Eric of Summit, NJ, a sister: Mary Addis and her husband Kent of Pleasant Gap, PA, along with her grandchildren: Olivia Flaim, Daniel Flaim, Sarah Flaim and Maci Holman. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 5th at 11:00 AM at Hope Fellowship Church in Chestertown, MD. Relatives and friends may call on Friday, March 4th between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 PM at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home 130 Speer Road Chestertown, MD. Interment will be in Still Pond Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Hope Fellowship Church at P.O. Box 579, Chestertown MD 21620.
