Monday, March 8, 2021 Leon “Rick” Demby Jr. entered into eternal rest at the Compass Regional Hospice Center in Centreville, MD. Born Oct. 21, 1946 to the late Leon Demby Sr. and Dorothy V. Hynson Demby. Leon gave his life to Christ and could often be found fellowshipping with several local churches especially Mt. Pleasant UMC in Pondtown. He attended Dudley Elementary and then moved on to Kennard High School where he graduated in 1964. Growing up his hobbies were singing in the school choir and taking photos. In 1966 he enlisted into the United States Air Forces becoming Staff Sergeant until he was discharged June, 1973. He worked several jobs following his military career; Maryland Fabricators in Millington, MD, MVA Investigation Division in Easton, MD, Washington College as a driver taking students to appointments an airport runs. After retirement he loved to go to Ollies, 5 Below and Roses, needless to say he loved to go shopping. He was a board member of Future Focus Women’s Recovery House in Cambridge, MD. He enjoyed visiting his family, routing for his Dallas Cowboys, keeping his car clean and enjoyed dressing in costume for Halloween and scaring the kids. He traveled with NA for conventions where he recorded videos for High Voltage Audio. Leon was always clean, dressed to the nine’s, color coordinated, pressed and creased. He was proceeded in death by his siblings: Betty Daniels, Lawrence Demby, Sr., James “Tip” Demby, Weldon “Beany” Demby, Calvin Demby and Matthew Stevens. He leaves to cherish his memories: Two heart beats; Tasha Thomas (Kurtis) and Quioly S. Demby, Grandchildren: Kurtis, Jr., and Kevin Thomas, Ayanna, Julian, Nathan, K’Myra, Annilah, Dyamond, Jasemyne, Queen and Q’Niyah, 4 sisters, Eartha Arrington (Anthony), Linda Steven, Bonnie Tribbett (Alvin), Jackie Rucker (Steven), 8 brothers, Nelson Demby, Gregory Wright (Virginia), William Stevens, Paul Stevens (Barbara), Marvin Stevens, Otha Demby, Randy Demby (Teresa) and Homer Demby (Leticia), 1 aunt; Jean Jeter, 1 uncle, Otha Hynson, special friends: Lori Price, Lee Carter and Ed Watson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A visitation will be held Sat March 20, 2021 from 11am to 1pm at Fellows Family Funeral Home 370 Cypress St. Millington, MD. A graveside services will be held at 1:30pm at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Pondtown, MD.
