LaVon Katherine Lindsey

December 16, 1939 - February 24, 2022

LaVon Katherine Lindsey of Centreville, MD passed away on February 24, 2022, at Compass Regional Hospice in Centreville, MD. She was 82. Born on December 16, 1939, in Toledo, OH, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Allan and Anna Betag. LaVon grew up in Corry, PA and graduated in the Class of 1958 at Corry Area High School. She served on various class activities’, and she loved art and was artistically gifted. LaVon’s senior write up in The Corrian yearbook stated, “One by one the sands are flowing; One by one the moments fall”. This was an excerpt from the poem, “One by One the Sands Are Flowing”, written by Adelaide Anne Procter. She moved to Washington DC after graduation and was a resident of Maryland for the remainder of her life and she loved the state. “Maryland My Maryland”. LaVon retired as an Administrative Assistant for the American Chemical Society in Washington DC. LaVon documented her Important Accomplishments in Life as “Giving Birth To My Darling Baby Girl/Julie” and “Being A Good Person”. Her greatest joys were her family and her various little doggies she had throughout her life, LaVon’s family feels that her most important accomplishment in life was being the Greatest Mom, MooMoo and MeMaw in the world. She was kind, loving and caring. And her love of God and Jesus never wavered. LaVon is survived by her daughter Julie Walker, son-in law Jerry Walker of Centreville, MD; grandsons David Lee Corry, Sr. and Justin Blake Corry, Sr.; Great Grandchildren Savannah Corry; Justin Corry, Jr.; Rylan Corry; David Corry, Jr.; and her brother Allan Betag and sister-in-law Bernice. She was preceded in death by her brother Raymond Betaq and sister Rosemarie Benson and her parents. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Compass Regional Hospice in Centreville MD.
