Judy Polyak Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Judy D. Polyak, 70, of Centreville passed away on June 12, 2022. She was born on June 24, 1951 to the late Francis and Evelyn Teague Youell. Judy loved life. She was a caring soul who thought of everyone else first. She started out as a candy striper at 16 years old at North Arundel Hospital in Glen Burnie, which led her to enter nursing school, her passion. She graduated from Catonsville Community College with her Registered Nurse degree, went on to work at Mercy Hospital in many capacities, and was the assistant director at Albert Witzke Medical Center in Baltimore. Emergency Room was her passion though, working at Easton Hospital ER, Paradise Valley ER in Phoenix, AZ and finally at Shawnee Mission Hospital ER in Kansas, right up to her illness. She was a member of Goodwill Fire Department in Centerville for a time, where she ran calls on the ambulance even after working 12 hour shifts at the hospital. Judy was a fighter, even after the diagnosis she fought each and every day. It was that fight and the passion for life that allowed her to officially be "cured" of cancer. Even during her treatment and the following complications her need to help others never wavered. She joined many support groups so that she could not only tell her story but help others through theirs. Judy placed the needs of others above her own and she will be deeply missed. Her favorite pastime was playing the piano (which she did her whole life), and sketching her mice drawings. She was an avid gamer also. She was the kindest person, anyone who knew her would attest to that. She loved her son Chris, her family and her God. She will truly be missed by many. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her children; Christopher Miller and Jeannie Miller, and her brother Michael Youell. Judy is survived by her husband Paul Polyak, her sister Jean Busick and brother in law Duke Busick; her grandchildren Bryan Miller and Joey Miller, five great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be made to Goodwill Fire Company, Centreville, Maryland. A visitation will be be held on Wednesday, June 22 from 11:00 - 1:00 PM with a service to begin at 1:00 PM at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 408 S. Liberty St., Centerville, MD 21617.
