James Lewis Sylvester Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

James Lewis Sylvester, 66, of Chester passed away peacefully on December 26, 2021 at his home. He was born on August 25, 1955 in Baltimore to the late Edward and Florence (Kaczmarek) Sylvester Sr. James served in the US Navy from 1973-1977 receiving an honorable discharge from the USS Steinaker. He married Dorothea in Pasadena on Thanksgiving Day in 1975. James retired from Constellation Energy Group as a Control Room Operator in 2011, after having over 30 years of service with Baltimore Gas & Electric (BGE). He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family, especially going out to dinner even if it took over an hour to find the perfect restaurant. He also loved going to the gym almost every day, swimming laps, riding his Harley motorcycle, cleaning his cars, and cooking for his family. James also liked to take care of and spoil his 2 cats, Tyler and Lily, and cared for all animals including the neighborhood fox. James is survived by his wife, Dorothea, his children Douglas Edward (Brittany) Sylvester, Kara Florence (Bill) Burt, his grandchildren Kaiden Sylvester and Charlotte Sylvester; his brothers Edward (Elaine) Sylvester Jr., Stevie (Elizabeth) Sylvester, Tommy (Norma Jean) Sylvester, Michael (Laurie) Sylvester, Anthony (Carrie) Sylvester, Bobby Sylvester, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. All services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, a contribution in James’ name may be sent to Chesapeake Cats & Dogs Inc.; 326 Wye Mills Rd, Queenstown, MD 21658.
