Gordon Edward Bush

March 1, 1936 - March 10, 2022

Gordon Edward Bush, age 86, of Boyds, Maryland died on Thursday March 10, 2022 in Hospice care at The Barnette Center in Centreville, Maryland. He leaves behind his two sons, Ryan and Donna Bush of Beallsville, MD and Darin and Teresa Bush of Centreville, MD; his two grandchildren Brandon and Hannah Bush; his nephew Rodney Bush of Iron Gate, Virginia. Gordon was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Diana; his parents Ethel and Wilbur Bush; his brothers Stanford and Alton and his sisters Helen and Beatrice of Iron Gate, Virginia. Gordon was born on March 1, 1936, in Alleghany County, Virginia. Growing up in southwest Virginia, he graduated from Alleghany High School before joining the US Army in 1954. After his service to our country, he attended and graduated from Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Virginia where he met his wife, Diana. Gordon and Diana were married on September 1, 1962, at the First Baptist Church in Hyattsville. As a mathematician, Gordon spent his professional life as a Computer Programmer with Comsat Labs in Clarksburg, Maryland and later as a Systems Analyst with IBM and Lockheed Martin in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Throughout his life, Gordon was an active member in the church. A member of First Baptist of Gaithersburg for nearly 20 years and a member of Greenridge Baptist for the past 25 years where he served as a Deacon and later as a “Greeter” at the front door with his wife, Diana, by his side. Aside from time with Diana, his greatest enjoyment was fishing with Darin and traveling to various sporting events to watch Ryan, Darin, Brandon and Hannah play. The family will hold a private grave side service at Fort Lincoln Cemetery on Monday, March 21, 2022, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to your local Hospice organization.
