George James Edwards Jr.

June 24, 1934 - February 9, 2022

George “Guy” James Edwards, passed away on February 9th, 2022. He was 87 years old. Guy was born in Virginia on June 24th, 1934 to the late George Linwood Edwards and the late Katherine Ida Vincent. His family moved to Dominion when he was very young. He married Phyllis Jean Bryan on March 10, 1953. They were married for 51 years. He worked on the water for many years crabbing, oystering and clamming. In between the oystering and crabbing season he worked at Piney Narrows Marina as a yacht refinisher. He and his son Donnie started Edwards Seafood in the eighties and he retired from the business in 2008. He loved playing softball. He pitched for many years for numerous teams in Queen Anne's County winning the Q.A.C. Modified Softball Championship in 1976. He was inducted to the Maryland Modified Softball Hall of Fame in 1995. He loved spending time with his family and he especially loved the Christmas season. He was very easy going and worked very hard for most of his life but he was always willing to help anyone if he could. He was a collector of waterfowl decoys and loved to go to Havre De Grace. MD to visit with the decoy carvers and take them fresh oysters. He was a member of the Denton Christ Church. Along with his parents, Guy is predeceased by his wife Phyllis Jean Edwards, his brothers Charles (Charlie) Edwards and Howard (Doc) Edwards. He is survived by his four children, Connie Edwards, Pam Edwards (Eddie), Mike Edwards (Renee) and Donnie Edwards (Dawn), his four grandchildren Jason Edwards (Christy), Tyler Edwards (Diana), Brandon Edwards (Allyson) and Maron Warble (Adam), 11 great grandchildren, his sister Mary Helen Jones and many nieces and nephews. The services and burial for Mr. Edwards will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department or the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
