Doris Jean Moorman Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Doris Jean Moorman of Chestertown MD passed away peacefully on June 7, 2022. She was 90 years old. Mrs. Moorman was born in Louisville, KY on September 1, 1931, the daughter of Edwin Schroering and Suzanne Norris Schroering. Beloved wife of Robert Edward Moorman, Sr. (deceased), Beloved sister of Edwin Schroering, Jr. and John B. Schroering, Sr. She married Bob Moorman in in 1950, and raised eight children. Mrs.Moorman would often refer to her time raising and parenting her children and caring for her home as the most wonderful years of her life. Mrs. Moorman was the Administrative Assistant to Richard Feller, the Clerk of the Works, of the Protestant Episcopal Cathedral Foundation in Washington, DC, and stayed on until the final capstone was laid on the Washington National Cathedral in 1990. Afterward, she spent the majority of her retirement years with her husband in Chestertown, MD. A life-long servant of the Roman Catholic Church, Mrs. Moorman was a member of the Washington Province Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Moorman, Sr. (1928-1999), and her grandson Steven Edwin Moorman(1985-2014). She is survived by her loving daughters (and their spouses) Suzanne Abdulhay (the wife of Dr. Gazi Abdulhay) of Allentown, PA, Theresa Shanahan (the wife of Dr. Patrick Shanahan) of Chestertown, MD, and Mary Kaump (the wife of Dr. Randall Kaump) of New Haven Connecticut, and sons Robert Moorman (husband of Katharine Shannon Moorman) of North Potomac, MD, Dr. Anthony Moorman (husband of Beth Moorman) of Richmond, VA, Joseph Moorman (husband of Yolande Moorman) of Gaithersburg, MD, Dr. Jonathan Moorman (husband of Susan Moorman) of Johnson City, TN, and Mark Moorman (husband of Erica Moorman) of Gaithersburg, MD, and is survived by grandchildren Robert E. Moorman III, Michael Moorman, Timothy Green, Leyla Abdulhay, Mediha Abdulhay, Ali Abdulhay, Nabil Abdulhay, Amir Abdulhay, Nour Abdulhay, Tara Conover, Patrick Shanahan, Jr., Bonnie Williams, Geoffrey Kaump, Laura Boijseauneau, Daniel Kaump, Anthony Moorman, Jr., Joseph L. Moorman, Marie Grove, Matthew Moorman, Samantha Balajthy, Heather Moorman, Jacob Moorman, Adam Moorman, Christopher Moorman, Andrew Moorman, and Jonathan A. Moorman, and 21 great grandchildren. Services will be held on Wednesday, June 15 at 10:00 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chestertown. Interment to follow in St. Paul’s Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Sacred Heart Catholic Church 508 High Street Chestertown MD 21620.
