Bette Ione Davis Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Bette Ione Davis of Colfax, Iowa passed away on April 16, 2022 at her daughter’s home in Millington, MD surrounded by her family. She was 95 years, 11 months and 10 days. Mrs. Davis was born May 6, 1926 in Des Moines, Iowa the daughter of the late John H. Barrett and Florice Anna “Blakely'' Barrett. Bette was a 1944 graduate of Colfax High School where she has never missed an Alumni banquet. Married the late James L. Davis on August 18, 1946 and the two began their life together in Des Moines, Iowa before moving to their family acreage in Colfax, Iowa where she lived for over 70 years. Jim and Bette operated Phil Davis Cleaners, a family owned business after Margaret Davis retired. Bette worked as a receptionist for a photographer at Sandy Studio’s where many family portraits were taken and most recently worked as a city clerk for the City of Colfax. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the longest member of the Colfax Methodist Church. She was involved with the Colfax Senior Citizens where she enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her friends. Bette enjoyed flower gardening, the companionship of her dogs, going to Casinos, watching Iowa basketball, shopping and yard sales. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sister, Norma Davis and infant sister Marcia. She is survived by two sons, James Bradley Davis of Colfax, Iowa, Daniel Barrett Davis (Charla) of Dike, Iowa, one daughter, Phyllis Davis Hulton of Millington, MD, six grandchildren, Jamie Fann (Gary), Angie Arthur (Jammie) Matthew Gehling (Rita), Scott Davis (Maria), Morgan Bishop, Cory Davis and eight great grandchildren. Memorial services and burial will be held at a later date in Colfax Cemetery in Iowa.
