Bernard Andrew “Butch” Cheezum, Sr. passed away at his home on July 28. He was 65 years old.
Born on November 22, 1944, he was the son of Bernard and Pauline Hayward Cheezum. He graduated from Easton High School in 1962, and worked as a carpenter in road and bridge construction. He then worked as a construction inspector for RK & K Engineering until his retirement in 2008.
He was a member of Bay Country Moose Lodge #831, the Sons of the American Legion Squad #0278, and was a life member of the Cordova Volunteer Firemen’s Association.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie Baxter Cheezum, whom he married on November 22, 1964; his children, Bernard Andrew Cheezum, Jr. (Gretchen) and Sandra Higdon (Steven); his sister, Patricia Webster (Charles); and his grandchildren, Bernard Andrew Cheezum, III, Olivia Cheezum, and Madison Higdon.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Easton, where friends may call on Tuesday, August 3 from 7:00 until 9:00 pm.
Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.
