Albert Anthony Cantello Jr. died suddenly on July 18, 2010 in a boating accident. He was 46.
Born on December 24, 1963 in Annapolis, MD he was the son of Albert,Sr. and Jackie Brownlee Cantello. Growing up in Annapolis, Al developed a passion for the bay and lacrosse. He played lacrosse and soccer at Arch Bishop Spalding for three years and graduated from Annapolis High School in 1981. He continued his education at The University of Delaware. Al played lacrosse at Delaware and graduated in 1986 with a bachelors’ degree in economics. In 1990, he married Nancy Erb and they established M&M Marine Construction in Queenstown, MD. Al loved his job, especially meeting homeowners and explaining how to develop the shorelines to protect the bay. He also enjoyed sharing his knowledge with them about crabs and wildlife. Working in the community allowed Al to enjoy coaching Kent Island Lacrosse, where he is the only coach who has taken a Kent Island Lacrosse team to the Anne Arundel Championship game two consecutive years. He loved coaching and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of St. Christopher’s Catholic Church in Chester, MD.
He is survived by his wife Nancy E. Cantello; two sons, Charlie & Sam Cantello, all of Queenstown, MD; his parents Albert, Sr. and Jackie Cantello of Annapolis, MD; sisters, Karla McMahon and her husband, Mike, Karen O’Kane and her husband, Jerry, all of Annapolis, MD; father & mother in-law, Dr. Robert and Eleanor Erb of Hockessin, DE; sister in-law, Lisa Sechler and her husband, Dave of Salisbury, MD; brother in-laws, Jeff Erb of Downingtown, PA, Stephen Erb and his wife, Jackie of Lovettsville, VA; Andrew Erb and his wife, Melissa of Westminster, MD; and his nieces and nephews, Kellen, Koby, Kylie, Brendon, Audrey, Melissa, Julie, Stephen, Billy, Michael, Maddie, Isabel, Emily and Anna.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 23, 2010 at 1PM at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church in Chester, MD. The family will receive friends and relatives from 11:00-1:00 at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church. Immediately following will be a fellowship at Southwind Club House in Chester, MD.
