Name: Shirley F. Chance Date: August 13th, 1934 - July 18th, 2010 Obituary: Shirley Fairbank Chance of Easton passed away quietly on July 18, 2010 at Genesis Healthcare – The Pines in Easton. Born on August 13, 1934, she was the daughter of the late, Alfred and Bertha Fairbank of St. Michaels, and step daughter of the late, Lola Fairbank. A lifelong resident of Talbot County, Mrs. Chance attended Easton High School and married her husband, the late James L. “Jimmy” Chance when she was 18. They were married 49 years before his death in 2001. Mrs. Chance was a lifelong member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Easton. She is survived by two sons, Leslie R. Chance and his wife, Lois, of Easton, and James A. Chance and his wife, Lori, of Annapolis; one sister, Catherine E. Sard of Ocean Pines; four grandchildren: Jesse Richard Chance and Courtney Nicole Chance, both of Easton, and Ian Scott Chance and Sean Richard Chance, both of Annapolis; and beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 23 at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., in Easton, MD, where the family will greet visitors on Thursday, July 22 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. Interment will immediately follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 100 Peachblossom Road, Easton, MD 21601.
